Volunteer Opportunities

Be part of one of the largest compassion projects in the history of Sacramento! We need barbers, doctors, dentists, cooks, photographers, clowns, face-painters, musicians, sound technicians, and a whole host of others! More than 2,000 volunteers are needed to help us make this outreach a great success. If you have a servant's heart and want to help others, then sign up today! Read below for team descriptions.

Volunteer Teams

 

Set-up/Clean-up (Arrangements) 

Responsible to help set everything up in preparation for the festival and clean-up after the festival is over. Most set-up will occur on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, September 12th - 14th at Cal Expo in the afternoon and evening.

Community Services Team

The Community Services team helps get the word out about the many great community services that Sacramento has to offer.

Connections Team

The Connections team includes recruiting and training Christian volunteers to join together in prayer before the outreach, share their faith with guests and pray for them during an outreach, and assist in follow-up through acts of kindness and discipleship efforts.

Cooking/Serving (Food Services)

Dozens of cooks and servers are needed to prepare 10,000 meals at our Festival Cook-out!

Data Entry

Helps keep and maintain records throughout the festival.  This is part of the Connections Team.

Photography and Videography

Professional photographers and videographers are welcome to help us capture the event by roaming the site and taking candid footage/photos. Also, photographers are invited to be part of our Family Photo Tent where individuals and families can have professional photos taken.

Finance Team

The Finance team is responsible to help raise the outreach budget, monitor expenditures, process receivables and payables, generate financial reports, and more.

Grocery Distribution

At the outreach, the Groceries team oversees food distribution, which is responsible to unpack pallets and bag groceries, stock grocery distribution tables, and distribute groceries to guests.

Guest Services

Responsible for pre-outreach guest promotion. Guest promotion involves the distribution of promotional handbills and posters through community distribution locations, door-to-door invitations, and public school distributions. At the outreach, Guest Services is responsible to provide guests with helpful information at the Welcome Area, distribute food coupons, count the number of guests entering the site, and greet guests in different areas of service.

Haircuts Team

The Haircuts team consists of professional barbers and hairstylists who are willing to provide free haircuts to our guests during the Festival.

Medical/Dental Team (Health Services)

This team consists of medical and dental professionals, nutritionists, substance abuse counselors, and more. We will be providing free screenings such as blood pressure, hearing tests, vision screening, physical exams, dental checkups, immunizations and flu shots, referrals, and more.

Kids Zone Team

The Kids Zone team will assure kids are having fun and playing safe! Activities could include: balloons, decorations, child registration, clowns, face painting, entrance and exit, games and activities, gospel presentation, and recovery area for lost children.

Media Relations Team

The Media Relations team is responsible to prepare and distribute Media Alerts, Public Service Announcements, and, immediately following the outreach, Press Releases. This team is also responsible to promote the outreach through all print, radio, and network and cable TV media outlets.

Safety Team

The Safety team is responsible for the overall security of the festival. Outreach responsibilities include keeping the site perimeters and access gates secure, securing the grocery area, providing traffic control and parking assistance, and more.

Site Entertainment Team

Site Entertainment can include animal balloons, animal costumes, bands, choirs, clowns, drama teams, giveaways, dance teams, instrumental musicians, jugglers, mimes, puppets, special sports entertainers, and more.

Prayer Team*

These individuals will offer prayer to festival participants. Training and your pastor's signature is required for participation. Information about the training will be added to the site once determined. Please check the site regularly for updated information.  This is part of the Connections Team.
